Whiteoaks Rest Home

Caring Like Only A Family Can

Our Family

Our Residents

Whiteoaks provides care and accommodation for elderly adults including married, unmarried or same sex couples, who because of their individual incapacities require help with daily living.

The Home aims to provide a care service for elderly residents up to but not including nursing care.

We recognise that all our guests have individual experiences and aspirations therefore we aim to allow them to live an untroubled, fulfilling and happy life in the knowledge that care and support are instantly available.

We aim to give our residents opportunities to participate in all aspects of life in the Home. In particular, residents are regularly consulted both individually and corporately about the way the Home is run.

All four partners have a NVQ 4 in Health and Social Care and hold a Registered Managers Award. Mrs Panchalingathurai, the previous Director is also a RGN. Mrs Nandagopan, who is the current Company Director and Registered Manager also holds a Ba(Hons) degree in Business Studies and a MSc in e-Business Management.

Mr and Mrs Panchalingathurai (Mr and Mrs Panch as they are fondly known) bought the Home in May 2000 from the original founder of the Home and ran it as a husband and wife team, with Mrs Panch acting as the Registered Manager due to her 40 years of experience as a nurse and Mr Panch taking responsibility of finance and all other matters because of his 40 years of business acumen and experience as a self made businessman and entrepreneur.

In 2002, after completing her Masters degree, their daughter Maddie joined them and learnt aspects of care from her mother and the day to day running of the business from her father. In 2006, their soon to be son-in-law Nanda joined the team and after their marriage in 2007, the young couple took over from Mr and Mrs Panch, Maddie took over as Registered Manager and since then they have taken the business from strength to strength achieving and maintaining an excellent rating since 2007.

In 2015, the Home came in the top five finalists in the National Care Awards for Care Home of the Year.

Maddie and Nanda work on site Monday to Friday 8.45am to 5.00pm and are on call evenings and weekends.

Our Staff

Caring Like Only a Family Can
Whiteoaks Rest Home

The management at Whiteoaks aims for an inclusive, open and positive atmosphere, involving the staff and service users with many aspects of the running of the Home.

We work hard to ensure that we employ experienced, trained staff. The Home’s staff are selected for their qualities of reliability, integrity, skill, friendliness, openness, trustworthiness, professionalism and above all their caring attitude. All potential staff have to undergo a trial shift to ensure their suitability to the Home. They are carefully screened, POVA and DBS checks are made with two references from previous employers.

Most staff have NVQ Levels 2or 3 in Health and Social Care and those who do not are encouraged to undertake the vocational training. All staff receive a full induction designed to familiarise them with the Home and its operating procedure. New staff also have training in line with the Care Certificate. In addition there are regular training courses which are continuous, covering topics such as Basic First Aid, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Infection Control, Safeguarding, DOLS and MCA.
